Angle diagram

Rapid Internal Angle Measurement
In less than 30 minutes, you can measure the top and bottom internal angles of gyration on your compactor. Spend less time measuring angles and more time paving.

Innovative Load Simulation
The patented loading method simulates the forces applied to the gyratory compactor frame from within the mold, without hot mix or warm mix asphalt. The result is consistent frame loading with reproducible angle measurements.

Standard molds

Fits All SGC Models (150 mm)
With an overall height similar to that of a standard Superpave volumetric specimen, the RAM can be used in any 150mm diameter mold which complies with Superpave mix design specifications (150 mm ID).

No Laptop or Computer RequiredAngle reading
The instrument is self contained with the angle displayed right on the device. No computer interface is required. Simply turn on the device, gyrate it inside the mold, extrude it, and read the result directly from the display.

No Mix, No Mess
Because the device does not require hot mix asphalt to load the SGC frame, issues with debris interfering with the angle measurement are greatly reduced. While elevated temperature angle measurements are possible, Pine strongly recommends all internal angle measurements be made at room temperature for improved accuracy and to reduce the opportunity for operator injury.

Traceable Verification
A calibration tube is supplied with every RAM kit. This tube is used to provide a traceable and known angle for on-site routine verification of the RAM instrument. This same tube can be used to recalibrate the RAM in the field in the rare case in where this may be required.

Changeable Load Capability
The unique way in which the RAM induces a simulated load lets you evaluate the performance of your SGC at different tilting moments. By changing the radius (eccentricity) of the contact rings on each end of the RAM, you can vary the load. As the eccentricity increases, the applied internal moment increases. The RAM is supplied with integrated 22mm eccentric (44mm diameter) loading rings for typical TP71 internal angle measurements and also a pair of 32mm eccentric (64mm diameter) loading rings for calibrating compactors equipped with shear instrumentation.
